Women in Travel Summit - Day 1

Day 1: WHOA. I went into this with zero expectations, as we just signed up on a whim, and I am BLOWN AWAY. Writing this over a moscow mule, because, let's be real, my brain needs a break from all of the incredible info that was thrown my way today. Over the next few weeks I'll make sure to share all this fabulous info with you, but for now, I want to share what may be one of my top takeaways. . .people are incredible. WOMEN are incredible.

Unfortunately it seems like the past few months I have been saying quite the opposite. With all of the depressing news stories and various interactions in my personal life, I have definitely been in "people suck" mode. Not a good place to be and not at all what resides in my soul. I love people but as whole, they have been bringing me down lately. So when the proposition of attending a conference with 500+ women was thrown my way, I was skeptical. Like, maybe I don't actually want to do this skeptical. There is no way you can put that many females in a room and have a positive experience. I am happy to say I WAS SO WRONG. Like flat out, 100% wrong.

I just spent a day with some of the most kind, welcoming, open minded, intelligent women from all walks of life doing all sorts of incredible things. We've shared stories, we've shared passions, fears, and hopes and dreams. We've stepped out of our comfort zones to meet new people and make new friends and encourage one another. I literally sat at lunch looking around in amazement at how that many unique and diverse individuals could come together in such a manner. I seriously feel like the grinch who's heart grew 3 sizes that day.

At some point in the next few days I'll be able to better explain all that's whirling around in me, but for now I just want to say a huge thanks to Wanderful for putting on this summit. This experience thus far has been exactly what I needed. Also huge shout out to Elizabeth from The Switchback Kids. We've "known" each other through social media for a while but finally got to meet in person and it has made this experience just that much more fun.

If you want to keep up on the fun, make sure you're following our Instagram stories! We have another whole day tomorrow and I can't wait to see what it brings
